Before Victoria's Secret, Frederick's of Hollywood was the name in lingerie. I'm sure many just splashed themselves with cold water between periods, others I assume were driven to drink. I also wear five inch heels most every day. There were two bummers about wearing all the time. They range in time from the 1920s through the 1960s. And when they wore a shoestring up the back, there were only two shoestrings holding up the front! I think that one of the issues leading to the decline of pantyhose is that our society has become morally lax. I would see even more after school.

Coming in far beyond the date of the original post, I feel the need to chime in on this topic. And I agree, gotta love those 80s videos. Still, I'd love to see the nude hose make a comeback : I can't believe how many men like pantyhose of the nude variety. There's a few obvious reasons why pantyhose sales have tanked during the last decade, compared to their heyday that was the '60s, '70s, and '80s. This is also, I think, why I've always been particularly attracted to nice navels--in the catalog shots, if the navel was showing, it was about as naked as it got. Ah, the '70s, when they still made some pointy bras. Some women, such are news anchors or models, are either blessed with or have invested in polished, blemish-free legs, but, with no disrespect intended, I contend that the majority of women are not as fortunate. I wear dresses and skirts everyday. The full nightgown around the :20 mark is my favorite garment. And in the past decade the shirts are see through! Up until the 1960s stockings were only thigh high, held up with garters. And make them feel massaged all day long! If I'm teaching, I wear a girdle but otherwise I just use a garter belt.

The allure of pantyhose for me anyway is the fact that they go all the way up! I never understood the balloons. Moviestars were idolized for their sexy legs. And I quote from Gary Busey's character talking to his boss Harp in the movie Point Break. I spent my high school years at a boarding school whose dress code stated that, from mid-October to mid-April, female students had to wear hose of some variety with a skirt or dress. I would love to see a post on why women today don't wear panty hose anymore.

Her website, Drawn to the 80s, is where her 5 year old draws the greatest music hits of the 1980s. Okay, here's the deal - let me lay it out there for you. Pantyhose sales have been , and just launched a new campaign aimed at making the garment hip and cool again for 21st century women. It was released just a couple of months ago, but it's so much fun and so obviously vintage-inspired, that it's an honorary 13 on this list.
